TECHNICAL APPROACH TO TRANSPORTATION PROJECTS
Our method for determining our technical/project approach to any project is to determine the issues by talking to the public affected by the project, talks to the client and by visiting the site. After we complete these tasks we then formulate our Scope of Services and present it to the client. Once the client has approved our scope of services we formulate our fee for approval.
Our typical approach once Schmidt Engineering & Surveying Inc. is selected:
- Identify the issues-Talk to public associated with project-Talk to client-Visit the site- Formulate the Scope of Services- Formulate Fee on approved scope of services- Once scope of services and fee is approved- Develop a schedule- Kickoff Meeting-Discussion of Schedule-Introduce Project Team- Research -Utility locate - field-Located exiting horizontal and vertical control.-Contact Utility Companies for plans and contact names-Property owner research-Design Criteria- Topographic Design Survey- Conceptual plans (if necessary)- Preliminary Plans (minimum type of sheets)-Cover Sheets-Typical Section-Horizontal and vertical control sheets-Plan and Profile for Roadway- Show property owners- Show existing and proposed R/W- Show proposed temp construction easement- Show Perm Drainage easements- Horizontal and vertical information- % Grades- Hydraulic information for drainage system-Drainage area map-Plans and Profiles for storm sewer system-Profiles that show pipes sizes, type, flow lines-Cross Sections ( Includes Side Streets )-Cost Estimate- R/W Plans -Cover Sheets- Typical Sections- Plan & Profile roadway- Shows existing and proposed R/W- Show proposed temp. and Perm easements- Table showing how much R/W, Temp. and Perm Easements for each property- Legal Description for each taking is required.- Tract map for each property owner and each type of taking (R/W, Temp. or Perm.
